James Vincent

December 1, 1939 — January 23, 2019

Dear family, friends and other Snyder folk; If you are reading this, I am on a Hawaiian beach with my wife Lawanna ( the prettiest women in Scurry county), or we are in Vail skiing with our Super Club friends Paula and Jerry McWilliams, or I'm sharing a cool Grape Nehi With my Daddy for the first time since I was eleven, or I'm, swapping funny stories with my Mama, my brother Henry, and sisters, Joanna, and Beatrice AKA Jo and Tom. If my idea of Heaven is correct, I'm most likely doing all of it at once.

I left Wednesday night, January 23rd. Just a couple of nights before, I'd had a nice visit with my sons Bryan, Britt, and Brad, at our house overlooking Towle Park. My daughter-in-law Dawn fixed us chicken and dumplings. It was a good night. We had a real good Christmas, too. I got see all my grandkids; Savannah, Brianna, Zane, Emma, and, Olivia.

I met Lawanna when we were juniors at Snyder High School. She asked for my number for a friend of hers. I said I'd give it to her, if I could have Lawanna's. I guess it was love at first laugh. A few years later, she proposed. We had Bryan and moved into the house on the park. I worked for a bank for about a minute but hated ties and being inside all the time, so I started driving trucks for Homco. I noticed that the guys in the office had air conditioning, so I asked for a promotion. We had Britt then Brad, then I started at Consolidated. We spent our free time going to games, having dinners, and taking trips with our Supper Club: the McWilliams, Bob and Janelle Pollard, John and Wanda Short, and Margaret and Wayne Glass. I also coached PeeWee Football. Little Dribblers, and Little League Baseball, until Brad decided he'd rather play on stage. Lawanna and I opened The Cuttery beauty shop. Bryan went to A&M. Britt went to Texas Tech. We bought Winston. Lawanna opened The Hair Station, Brad went to Baylor. Lawanna went to our Hawaiian Beach - or on a cruise like we had planned. We'll tell you when we see you.

If anyone lived the small town American Dream, we did. Aloha. Go Rangers."
