Ernest Shifflett

Ernest Shifflett age 87 died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 after a long battle with cancer..

Services for Mr. Shifflett will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Ernest was born on April 10, 1926 in Breckenridge, TX to Howard and Sadie Shifflett. He was reared in the Polar community. He served in the Navy on the USS Hoggett Bay Cue 75 in World War II. He married Evelyn Gregory August 17, 1946. He was the father of six children.

Ernest worked in the oilfield. He was a farmer, dirt contractor, building terraces in Scurry, Borden, and Kent Counties. He was also a chemical applicator and did custom farm work. He served on the Cotton Producers Board for several years, was a charter member of Scurry County ARC Training Center for MHMR. He did 6000 plus volunteer hours for the Senior Center.
He was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church and on the board many years.

Mr. Shifflett was preceded in death by one son; Ernie, parents; Howard and Sadie Shifflett and one brother Horace Shifflett.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn Shifflett, Snyder; son- David Shifflett & wife Kay, Pecos, TX; son- Ken Shifflett & wife Jan, Silsbee, TX; daughter- Karen Hildebrand, Everett, WA; son- Tommy Shifflett, Abilene, TX; son- Jimmy Dale Shifflett & wife Yvonne, Charleston, SC.

Grandchildren; Laura Parnell, Sam Shifflett, Kristi Tryong, Ken Shifflett II, Jonathan Shifflett, David Matthew, Brittany Shifflett, and Caleb Shifflett.

One Great granddaughter and three great grandsons; 3 sisters, Maggie Barnes, Vera Stansell, and Edith Witte, all of Snyder. One brother, Earl Shifflett, Shepherdsville, KY. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
