Mary Ellen Clay, 85, of Snyder, died Tuesday, July 16, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Ms. Clay will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Alan McGuire of Snyder Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale.
Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. Friday, July 19 at the funeral home.
Ms. Clay was born October 13, 1927 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Wesley and Newell Geneva Hazelwood.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law James and Onita May of Lake Striker; son and daughter-in-law Kinnith and Carolyn May of Snyder; son and daughter-in-law Willie May and Patty Smith of Fair Grove, Missouri; son Benney May of Snyder; daughter Cynthia ""Cindy"" Coleman of Josephine; and daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth ""Lisa"" and Ray Brandon of Snyder.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren including James Anthony May of Lake Striker, Steve Coleman Jr. of Lavon, Chuck May of Jacksonville, Melissa Coleman of Austin, Joyce May of Georgetown, Misty Miller of Clyde, Rebecca Ortiz of Abilene, Patricia Foster of Snyder, Christopher May of Fair Grove, Missouri, Detria Jackson of Arlington, DeMarco Jackson of Arlington, Deanndra White of Arlington, Tyronzia Brandon of La Mesa, California, and Freda Jackson of Arlington.
She is also survived by 35 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Cox; an infant daughter, Marjorie Evonne May; son-in-law Steve Coleman; great-granddaughter Cheyenne Love May, four brothers and two sisters.
Ms. Clay was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gardening, tending to her ""critters"" and traveling.
