Louie Trinon Vaughan, 83, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 in Kerrville, TX. Louie was the son of Louie Albert and Martha Louise Vaughan, first generation farmers in Scurry County. He met Judy Jennings in Sweetwater, and married her on Aug. 4, 1950 in Carlsbad, NM. Louie was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army National Guard for several years and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Zoology. He then returned home to Snyder and served as a professional Sanitarian for the State of Texas at the Scurry County Health Department for 33 years.
Louie was a true Renaissance man - he loved to work with his hands. He was a self-taught artist, a musician, a furniture maker, a telescope builder, and a natural born philosopher. He played the bass guitar in a country western band for many years. He and his wife Judy were long-time members of Trinity Methodist Church, and later First Methodist Church in Snyder. He was at various times a rodeo rider, and oil field worker, and a computer builder. Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed very much.
He leaves behind his wife, Judy Vaughan of Snyder, his son David B. Vaughan, M.D. and wife, Laura of Kerrville, and grandchildren David Michael Vaughan of New York City and Rachel Elizabeth Vaughan of San Marcos, Texas. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Lee Cook, Genetta Ameijide, Jo Crowder, brother-in-law Alex B. Crowder, and several nieces, nephews, and one special cousin, Sissy Ivison. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 pm with Rev. Clay Giddens officiating at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. No visitation is planned.
