Ted Crenwelge

Ted Crenwelge, 75, of Snyder, died Thursday, Nov. 21, at his residence.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Born on Oct. 2, 1938 in Houston to John and Dorothy (Gray) Crenwelge, Ted graduated from Houston?s Stephen F. Austin High School and Texas Christian University. While at TCU, he was a member of the Horned Frog football team. He was asked to sign as a free agent with the Washington Redskins, but he declined the offer.

Ted married Jane Joyce on Dec. 31, 1959. Following their graduation from TCU, the couple moved to Snyder and engaged in the farming business for 52 years.

A member of First Baptist Church, Ted was very active in it as well as the community. At one time, he owned and operated C and W Service Company. At the time of his death, he was serving in his 34th year on the board of Community Bank of Snyder, his 22nd year on the Colorado River Municipal Water District board and his 21st year on the Upper Colorado Soil and Water Conservation District board. He was serving his 40th year as a Lions Club member. Also, Ted had served 15 years on the Snyder Independent School District school board, six years on the Cogdell Memorial Hospital board and served on the board of the Scurry County Farm Bureau. He was also a recipient of the Snyder Chamber of Commerce?s Winston Award for agriculture. He had been an active Jaycee and had coach baseball ? pee-wee, Little League and Pony League teams.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Jane, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Lana Crenwelge; one daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Elliott Cox, all of Snyder; and a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Al Endsley of Georgetown. Also surviving are four granddaughters, Courtney Boyd and her husband, Ben, and Alison Davis and her husband, Riley, both of Snyder, Teddi Crenwelge of Midland and Katy Coulter and her husband, Kyle,of Lubbock; two grandsons, Jake Crenwelge of Lubbock and Hunter Cox of Snyder; and one great-grandson, Beck Boyd of Snyder.
