WANDA BELL
1929-2013
Wanda Lee Bell of Snyder, Texas, was called home on Friday morning December 27th. She was born in White Deer, Texas on April 24th, 1929. After graduating Odessa High School she married Douglas Calvin Bell on December 30th, 1945, in Andrews, Texas. Doug began his job with Chevron Oil Company which took the young couple on a long and happy life more accurately defined as an ongoing and perpetual adventure. This phenomenal adventure did not conclude until Wanda?s death a few hours short of their 68th anniversary.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Douglas Bell, their children, James Calvin Bell and his wife Pam of Gatesville, Paula Bell Nall and her husband Doug of San Antonio, and Tamara Bell Cotton and her husband David of Snyder.
Wanda spent a good part of her childhood with her grandmother amongst very humble conditions in Elmer, Oklahoma with her beloved grandmother Inez Elizabeth Texan Parker Hattan (a direct descendant of Quanah Parker). These formidable years forged Wanda as a very strong, yet deeply humble and gracious human being. Attributes that served her and her family well for the last eight decades. Among these life adventures was the four years spent operating a boarding house for the other pipeline employees at Waco (pumping) Station. This station was located in a remote area of the desert 80 miles outside of El Paso. Here, Wanda prepared three meals a day for Doug and the crew of about 15 men. In 1955, the couple transferred to Wink Texas before being relocated to Snyder in 1961. During these years, she did an exceptional job raising her 3 kids at the family home on 38th street next to Snyder High School. The Bell kids will always recall the summers spent camping, boating and enjoying the outdoors. As a person of infinite energy she ran her household while the owner operator of Bell?s Beaty Salon for over 25 years.
Doug and Wanda took a brief sabbatical from Snyder and retired to Canyon Lake, Texas from 1993 to 2010 after which they decided to return home to Snyder.
Wanda?s light will continue to shine in her five grandchildren Todd Nall, of Kingwood, Christy (Bell) David of Amarillo, Jarrod Nall of Austin, Ryan Edwards of Snyder, and Kaleigh Nall of San Antonio. Wanda also leaves four great grandchildren. The grandkids were the unquestionable light of her life.
Wanda was a person of unwavering faith, energy and optimism. If you were ever in the room with her you would recall her ability to connect and converse with anyone she met whether in her own home or in line at Disney World. The world will be a much slower, less friendly place without her.
Funeral service for Wanda will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Family visitation will be held on Saturday December 28, 2013 from 7-8 PM at the funeral home.
