Eleanor Ruth 'Mendy' O'Banion age 88 of Snyder, was gathered up by angels on January 07, 2014 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, Texas

Services for Mrs. O'Banion will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. Internment will be held at Restland Cemetery in Dallas on Friday, January 10, 2014 under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. O'Banion was born on November 16, 1925 in Dallas, TX to Dr. Ellliott and Ruth (Collins) Mendenhall. A gifted linguist with a love of literature, she graduated cum laude from Baylor University in 1946. She married Dr. John William O'Banion Jr, the love of her life, on November 23, 1949 in Dallas, Texas. She taught school at Highland Park in Dallas before moving to Snyder in 1959 with her husband and young daughters. After her three children graduated from Snyder High School she was a popular substitute teacher there as well as a private Spanish tutor. An active supporter of the community, Mendy was a member of numerous service organizations including; Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Cogdell Memorial Hospital, the Martha Ann Women's Club, Snyder Garden Club, member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church, and also served on the Scurry County Library Board for 25 years.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 6PM to 7PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be given on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.
