Mavis Lucille Mchaney

Mrs. Mavis Lucillle McHaney, age 95, of Hermleigh, TX, died Thursday evening at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, TX after a lengthy illness.

Services are set for 4PM Sunday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Chapel. Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. McHaney was born to John and Susie (Simpson) Shuler on August 14, 1915 in Mississippi. As a young orphan she lived in Oklahoma before moving to Scurry County in 1919. She married Harry R. McHaney on December 26, 1936 in Snyder. Mrs. McHaney was a retired beauty operator and a member of Central Baptist Church in Hermleigh where she taught a childrens"s Sunday School Class. She was an accomplished pianist and had served many area churches. She also played at the Senior Center and her playing was always enjoyed on the 4th floor at Cogdell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry on April 29, 1983, a son Donald Ray McHaney on September 24, 1994, three brothers, Chester, Lester and Edward Shuler and one sister, Geraldine Smith.

Survivors include a son Eddie McHaney and his wife Welda Kay of Hermleigh, a daughter in law, Diane Teague of Tahoka, a cousin Maxine Wright of Snyder, and several grandchildren and their spuses. Reesa and Ricky Wilkins,Terry and Billy Brock, Sherene and Jimmy Digby, Roxie and Steve Doggett, Billy and Michelle Shoemaker, Candy and Bill Jones, John and Vered McHaney, Donnis and Trent Scott and Perry Lee ,32 great grandchildren, and 23 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Saturday @ Bell Cypert Seale.
