Herman Lee Stokes age 92 of Snyder, TX, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder.
Funeral service for Mr. Stokes will be at 10 AM Thursday at the Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Quita Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Westbrook Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Funeral Home.
Mr. Stokes was born January 11, 1919 in Eastland Texas and spent his growing up years in the Westbrook community. He was the son of the Late Newell Walton Stokes and Anna Bell White Stokes.
Mr. Stokes served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II (1941-1945) He was a sargeant in the 112th Calvary.
He was married to Ida Davenport on October 2, 1946 in Colorado City. He was employed by Mobil Oil for 37 years as a gang pusher. He was a member of the Union United Methodist Church and was also a Shriner and a Mason.
In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 on Wednesday.
