James A. "Jimmy" Dove longtime Ira resident died Monday, March 21, 2011 at Midland Memorial Hopsital Hospice Unit after a brief illness.
Services for Mr. Dove, 88, is set for 2:30 PM Thursday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Homer Anderson, retired Church of Christ minister officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born February 09, 1923, he married Lois Shirley Thompson on September 29, 1940 in Clayton, N.M. She died September 18, 2010.
A World War II veteran serving from 1944 to 1946, Mr. Dove moved to Scurry County in 1940. He was a retired farmer and had also retired from Monsanto Gas Plant after 35 years. He was a member of the Ira Church of Christ.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, Dolpho Lee and Ruby Pearl (Wallace) Dove; two brothers, Lee Warren Wallace and Billy Joe Dove; a sister, Connie Sowders; a grandson, Doug Lee McWilliams; and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan Dove.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie Max & Linda Dove of Midland; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Kay and Marlon McWilliams of Mayhill, N.M.; a brother, Coy Wayne Dove of Lubbock; a sister, Dorothy Thelma Likes of Fruita, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Jeanetta Bailey of Snyder, four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and two step great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
