Nora Lee Clark, age 89, longtime resident of Ira, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 @ Abilene Regional Hospital after a short illness.
She was born August 17, 1921 as Nora Lee James in Durant, Oklahoma to C.C. and Lee James. She moved with her family to Snyder at the age of 6 and attended school in Snyder. She married J.L. Clark of
Ira February 26, 1939 at the First Baptist Church in Snyder and then made their home at Ira where they farmed until their retirement, they then owned and operated J.L."s Grocery in Ira for several years.
She is preceded in death by her husband J.L., and son Kelton, her parents, three brothers Clifford, Cecil and Joe James , and two sisters Eula Camp and Lillian Williamson.
She is survived by one brother Jake James of Westmoreland California, three children, Carolyn and husband Bob of Ira, Drew and wife Teresa of Eastland, Jay Lynn and wife Joanna of Abilene, and daughter in law Lena Clark of Snyder.
She is a Mamaw to and survived by nine grandchildren, Jay Markham of Graham, Kory Clark of Amarillo, Kaila Barbee of Ira, Chuck Barbee of Ira, Jennifer Whitmire of Weatherford, Angela Burnham of Ft. Worth, Drew Clark of Ft, Worth, Cody Clark of Eastland, and Terra Daughtry of Blythewood South Carolina. She is also survived by 15 great- grandchildren.
Services to be held Tuesday May 24th, 2011 at 2:00 P.M at Bell Cypert Seale funeral home in Snyder Texas. Internment at Ira cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-7 PM Monday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Nora Lee was a wonderful cook and enjoyed taking care of family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and Mamaw and will be fondly remembered as being kind, considerate and non-complaining.
