Mr. Carl Wilson Howell age 86 of Abilene, TX, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Wesley Court Care Center in Abilene, Texas. He was a former longtime Snyder resident prior to moving to Abilene.
Services for Mr. Howell will be at 10 AM Wednesday in the First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Ken Branam, pastor, Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving, and former longtime pastor of the First Baptist Church in Snyder, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Funeral Home.
Mr. Howell was born August 15, 1924 in Rule Texas to the late Carl Selvidge and Eathel(Wilson) Howell. He was married to Joy Taylor on October 28, 1945 in Snyder. Mr. Howell was a World War II veteran having served in Marine Corp. He came to Snyder in 1945 and remained here until moving to Abilene a few years back. He was self-employed, owning Howell Electric. He was also a hog farmer.
He was also well known in Snyder for the many varieties of roses he raised. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Snyder where he served as a deacon for many years.
