Richard Lee Smith, age 65, of the Hermleigh area died Monday, August 08, 2011 at Mitchell County Hospital in Colorado City, Texas after a lengthy illness.
Services for Mr. Smith 10 AM Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was bor September 16 1945 in Colorado City to the late Ewell Leslie "Slim" Smith and Maggie Sue )Feaster) Smith. He was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a graduate of Texas Tech University. He was an agriculture teacher having taught 35 years from 1968 to 2003. He taught one year in Kerrville and the remainder of that time in Hermleigh. Mr. Smith was involved in raising lambs for FFA and 4-H Projects. He was a member of the Texas Lamb Breeders Association and was a founding director of that organization.

a son Ben Richard & Christy Smith, all of Snyder
four grandchildren, Corbin Richard Smith, San Angelo; Hannah Marie Smith, Cameron Dale and Avery Gayle , all of Snyder
two sisters: Nelda Bruce, Midland; Fern Thompson, Colorado City; two brothers, Arvil Smith, San Angelo and Donald Smith Colorado City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Visitiion will be from 7 to 8 PM Friday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
