Tommy Houston Sterling

Tommy Sterling age 68 of Ira, TX, died Saturday, January 07, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas after a brief illness.

Services for Mr. Sterling will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Ira Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Ira Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Funeral Home.

Mr. Sterling was born on October 02, 1943 in Poteau, OK to Gus Houston Sterling and Jean Johnson Sterling. He married
Randa Howard on August 16, 1965 in Ira, TX.

He was a 1962 graduate of Ira High School. He later attended Texas Tech College where he graduated in three years with a degree in agriculture economics. His class was the last to graduate from Texas Tech College before it became Texas Tech University. He and his wife Randa have owned and operated Sterling Grocery since 1976.

Mr. Sterling was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Sterling in 1986 and his father Gus Houston Sterling in 1999.
