Don A. Jones life-long resident of Fluvanna, TX, passed away Thursday evening February 09, 2012 at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas after a battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2:30 PM at East Side Church of Christ with Mr. Tom Holcomb officiating. Burial will be immediately following at Fluvanna Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Don was born on October 09, 1933 in Snyder, TX to Mert Jones and Ruby Sims Jones. He grew up east of Fluvanna moving to Borden County in 1950. He married Nelva Ruth Herring of Dermott, TX in 1952. He was a member of the Fluvanna Church of Christ and served as deacon and elder for many years.
Don graduated from Fluvanna High School and attended Texas Tech. He was a farmer and rancher, and was actively engaged in the oil and and construction business from time to time. He served a term as county commissioner for Borden County. He was a member of the Fluvanna Young Farmers and served on the board of First Ag Credit. He also served in the signal corp during the Korean War.

& Carla Sandusky & her husband Grant, Roscoe, TX
Also surviving is a sister - Janie Sue Willard, Longview, TX
He had 9 grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and many friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mert Jones and Ruby Sims Jones in 1967.
Visitation will be Friday, February 10, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
The family has requested donations to the Fluvanna Cemetery Fund, Fluvanna, TX or the Borden County EMS, Gail, Texas.
