Mary Lois Wilson

Mary Lois Springer Wilson passed away Saturday March 24 following a brief illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Wilson, 91, is set for 2 p.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert -Seale Funeral Home.
Born to a ranching family on December 13, 1920 in Aspermont, Texas to Una Potter Springer and William A. Springer, Mary Lois graduated from Aspermont High School. She then entered Texas Christian University where she graduated in 1941. It was during her college years in Fort Worth that she met William H. Wilson Jr. They married on March 7, 1942 in Aspermont. The couple made their first home together in Saskatchewan where Bill was in service with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a B17 pilot.
After Bill"s return from service with the US Army Air Corps, the couple moved to Haskell, Texas where they opened a Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealership in 1945. It was during their time in Haskell that Mary Lois and Bill began their family. A daughter, Mary was born in 1948; and a son, Bill followed in 1952. In 1957, Mary Lois and Bill moved to Snyder to open a second Ford dealership.
Throughout her life, Mary Lois had a zest for life that exhibited itself in many ways. A love of books, art, cooking and travel were a constant. She was an avid bridge player and a lover of the natural world- most especially birds and Texas wildflowers. In later years she and Bill spent many summers at their home in Ruidoso where they enjoyed horseracing and lively dinners with a special group of longtime friends.
Mary Lois was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cosmorama Study Club, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a founding member of the Cogdell Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies service organization.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother William A. Springer. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William H. Wilson III and his wife Nancy of Snyder; and one daughter and son-in law, Mary Wilson Strelecki and her husband David Strelecki of Dallas. Two granddaughters and their husbands, Rachel Wilson Rember and Craig Rember; and Molly Wilson McMillan and Chad McMillan; and a grandson and his wife, Carl Strelecki and Alison Lerner Strelecki; great-grandchildren, Vivian Rose Rember, Parker Bence Strelecki, and Naomi Jean McMillan.
Caregivers, Evelyn Ware, Lisa Jefferys, Ola Delce and Birdie Thompson were treasured friends.
