Wayland Warren Dodson, 74, was called home to be with his Lord Thursday, August 9, 2012, at the infirmary of his residence: the Abilene State Supported Living Center. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 13, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in his home at 5972 Service Road in the AbSSLC. Services will be officiated by Dr. Rev. Bill Spencer, Chaplain. A graveside sunrise service will be at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder, TX Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 7:00 a.m. under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Adams, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Snyder, officiating.
Wayland, a forty-two year resident of AbSSLC, was born February 14, 1938, to Warren and Loree Stokes Dodson. His parents both preceded him in death as well as his best friend, Billie Lindley. Having been born on Valentine"s Day was quite appropriate as Wayland was certainly the sweetheart of his parents, other relatives, and the staff and residents of AbSSLC.
Wayland is survived by cousins Durelle Stokes Gorman of Snyder; Anna Bell Young Harvey and Vernon G. Young, both of College Station, TX; and Helen Joyce Hatter, of Abilene.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Abilene State Supported Living Center Volunteer Services, P.O. Box 451, Abilene TX 79604-0451.
