Charles Dennis Downing

Charles Dennis Downing, Dennis to his friends and family, went home to Jesus on Monday, February 3rd, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 51 years old.

Dennis was born in Pawhuska, Okla., on December 2, 1962, to Charles Jr. and Gladys Downing. He graduated from Pearl High School in Pearl, Miss., in 1980. He married Robin Cross on June 2, 1984, in Snyder, Tex. Dennis received his BA in Business from his beloved Texas Tech University (Go Raiders!) in 1991.

Dennis had a passion for bow hunting and clay pigeon shooting. He spent most of his time outside four-wheeling and tending to his fish and deer feeders. Dennis was a TV and movie lover who enjoyed going to the theatre. He enjoyed working with his company G.W. Trucking which he owned for 21 years. He greatly valued and appreciated his employees.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Robin, and his three daughters, Meagan, who attends Baylor University in Waco, Allison, who attends Texas Tech in Lubbock, and Hannah, who is a student at Snyder High School. He is also survived by his parents, Charles Jr. and Gladys Downing of Denver City, Tex., and his sister, Denise Thornton and her husband Elvin of Pearl, Miss., his in-laws, Fred and Ann Cross of Snyder, and brother-in-law and family, Matt and Becky Cross of Snyder. His nephews and nieces are Samuel, Antonio, Victoria, and Elayna Cross.

Dennis was a man of God, a beloved husband, devoted father, loving son, and caring friend. He will be greatly missed by many but will one day be reunited with his loved ones in Heaven.

Visitation will be held at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home from 6:00-7:00 pm on Thursday. The burial will take place prior to the funeral on Friday at 2:30 pm, everyone is welcome. The funeral will begin at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church with a reception immediately following.
