George Glen (Red) Stephens, 86, of Snyder went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, May 9, 2014 at home in Snyder, Texas.
A funeral service for Red Stephens will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Colonial Hill Baptist Church, with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Red Stephens was born on September 17, 1927 in Buffalo Gap, Texas to Walter William Stephens and Gladys Roberta Maxwell.
He attended Tuscola schools and married Eva Jo Maschek on June 19, 1946 in Winters, Texas.

Red was a devoted Christian, husband and father. He had a smile for everyone and never met a stranger. Before settling in Snyder in 1960 he was a seismograph driller traveling over much of the central United States with his family. He retired from Walton Construction in 1992 with 22 years of service as a heavy equipment operator and crew supervisor.
He was an active member of the Early Men’s Sunday school class of Colonial Hill Baptist Church for many years. He loved working in his yard and their yard was named “Yard of the Month” more than once. He loved being with his girls and any extended family.
Those left to celebrate his life are his wife of nearly 68 years, Jo. Two daughters, Donna Stephens Price and her husband, Sonny, of Junction, Texas and Jo Beth Stephens Everett and her husband John of Snyder.

Also surviving are two sisters, Peggy Stephens Yawn of Tuscola and Cora Stephens Ross of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, one brother, Billy Mac (Bud) Stephens of Tuscola, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rudy Bennett Stephens and J. W. Stephens, and two sisters, Maxine Stephens Pierson and Inez Stephens Pierson.
Visitation will be at held Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home from 4:00pm – 5:00pm.
Our precious husband and father loved Jesus and his family. He was a kind hearted man with a quick smile for everyone. His life was a blessing to his family and to all of those with whom he came into contact during his life.
