Elizabeth Beavers

December 30, 1918 — September 20, 2014

Martha Elizabeth Beavers, a longtime Scurry County resident died on Saturday September 20, 2014 at the age of 95 in the comfort of her home in Austin, TX where she lived with her daughter Marty Botkin and son-in-law Craig Botkin. She went very peacefully surrounded by her grandchildren after being sick and on Hospice for awhile.

Visitation for Mrs. Beavers is on Saturday September 27, 2014 at 12 p.m. at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home in Snyder, TX. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Gardens. The family would love to see anyone who is still in Snyder or visiting who knew her.

Martha Elizabeth was born December 30, 1918 in Wichita Falls, TX. Her parents were Robert Chancey Copeland and Ester Helen Copeland. She married Forrest W. Beavers on September 3, 1938 in the home of her grandparents. She lived in Snyder until Forrest died in 2002. She moved to Austin to be with her daughter Marty and family.

She taught just a little over 40 years with most of those years in Snyder starting with High School Journalism, High School English, 6th grade English and finally Kindergarten at West Elementary.

Martha Elizabeth was a member of East side Church of Christ of Snyder for many years. Her faith never wavered and she strongly studied her favorite book, the Bible, prayed, and led a very good example for God. God took very good care of her giving her a full life, which she enjoyed until 95. She loved people, Snyder, her family, her students, her peers, her friends, and in the end her caretakers. In showing her love she was a member of numerous clubs. She was the first President in 1950 for B&PW when they started again and she was a member for over 40 years where she made very special friends. She helped her community in more ways than can be listed. One was walking many weekends getting signatures for Western Texas College to come to Snyder because she believed everyone deserved an education and the chance to get one no matter if you were poor or rich. Through the years she helped raise and contribute money for scholarships.

Her brothers, her Mom, and her in-laws Mr. & Mrs. Charlie Beavers and her one sister preceded her in death many years ago. Her daughter Marty Botkin, son-in-law Craig Botkin, and 4 grandchildren, Ashley, Melody, James, and Preston still live in Austin, TX. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws across the U.S.

She loved gardening, singing, reading, cats, boating, fishing, church, many clubs at Martha Ann Woman’s Club , getting her degree at Abilene Christian University, Masters at Texas Tech, and being a good daughter, wife, friend, and especially being Grammy to the grandchildren. She loved celebrating holidays with fun, gifts, and good food. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, always learning more, and continuing her education.

Grammy, you will always be missed and loved but knowing that you are now in God’s arms is very comforting. Thank you for making a difference in my life and many others. We love you! The family would appreciate any contributions to the wonderful group :
