Bryan Lynn Boss, 77, of Abilene, Texas died Monday, October 13, 2014 following a brief illness.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Hillside Memorial Gardens followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. at Eastside Church of Christ, Snyder, Texas. Both services will be officiated by Don Browning of Carrollton, TX and Doug Graybill of Canton, PA. Both services will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Bryan was born on March 2, 1937 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Henry W. and Georgia Elkins Boss. Bryan was a 1955 graduate of Snyder High School and a 1960 graduate of Abilene Christian University. He served in the US Air Force as a Medic A1C from 1960 to 1964 stationed at Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh, NY. He was Senior Guidance Counselor with the New York State Dept. of Correctional Services until his retirement in 1993. Upon his retirement, Bryan moved to Canton, PA where he owned and operated the Cantonian Bed and Breakfast. In 1996, Bryan sold the B&B and resided in Canton with Nick and Sue Spano and family until his move to Abilene, Texas, in 2011.

Bryan was a co-founder of the Vailsgate Church of Christ in Vailsgate, NY, and a co-founder and Overseer of the Shepherd’s In Christian Community Coffee House, Newburgh, NY and Middletown, NY.

Bryan was preceeded in death by his mother and father, one brother and sister-in-law, Rip and Liz Boss, and one nephew, Scott Boss.

Survivors include, one sister and brother-in-law, Chiva and Keith Pitner, Snyder, TX, Also, niece, Paige Pitner Lucus and husband, Ronnie, of Vernon, TX, nephew, Trevlyn Pitner and wife, Ashly, great niece and nephew, Maci and Mason Pitner, Dallas, Texas. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

The family would like to thank Hendricks Rehabilitation Facility and the Hendricks Hospice Hospital for their love and support during Bryan’s illness.

Memorial suggestions are Historic Scurry County, Inc., the Scurry County Museum, a Pro-Life Charity, or the American Cancer Society.
