Perry Doss Echols, 50 of Ira, TX died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Snyder.
Services for Mr. Echols will be Wednesday January 14, 2015 at 2 O'Clock PM at First Baptist Church Snyder with Reverend Danny Williams and Mr. Brad Gartman officiating. Burial will be held at the Dunn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Perry Doss Echols was born on June 29, 1964 in Fort Hood, TX. Growing up, Perry rode horses, worked cattle, worked in the fields and was a top hand. After graduating from Snyder High School in 1982, Perry went on to enjoy a collegiate rodeo career at Tarleton State University, going to the College National Finals two times and serving as a National Student Representative of College Steer Wrestlers. While rodeoing, he developed many close friendships that he carried throughout his life. After college, Perry moved into the Echols homestead near Ira, Texas where he enjoyed ranching and farming his land and that of his family. He supplied livestock for several colleges and rodeo clubs. Perry was a skilled, competitive shooter and formed close friendships with shotgun enthusiasts from all over the country.
Perry Echols is survived by his parents, Thomas Carl and Kay Echols of Snyder, TX, his brother Van Echols and wife Angela of Lubbock, TX and sister Rhonda Echols Gartman and husband Brad of League City, TX. He was the best uncle to Carson and Clayton Echols and Garin and Graysen Gartman.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Perry and Iva Lee Echols of Dunn and Doss and Vena Maner of Littlefield.
