John T Harper

Mr. John T. Harper, 82 of Snyder,TX died on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his residence in Snyder.

Service for Mr. Harper will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 , at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Reid officiating. Internment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Mr. Harper was born on Sunday, June 05, 1932 in Breckenridge, TX to Richard and Cora(Perry) Harper. He married Nell Russett on July 12, 1952 in Snyder, TX. He hitchiked to Snyder from Breckenridge at the age of 17 to go to work in the oilfields in 1950. He worked in the oilfield until he retired after 25 years. He then started driving a school bus on the Fluvanna route where all the children fondly knew him as Poppa John. He was well known to many in the community because of his generous spirit and his contagious smile. he had a love of people and took great joy in spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John spent his last few years working just as hard as he had in his early years. There was no convincing him to slow down. He was a big Snyder Tiger fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football or any other endeavor they were involved in. He was a member of the Texas Baptist Church builders and traveled with them for over 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Snyder.
