Mr. Ernest Weldon Sears, 90 of Snyder,TX died on Saturday, March 14, 2015 in Snyder.
Graveside service for Mr. Sears will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 , at 11:00 AM at Hillside Memorial Gardens with Rev. Clay Giddens officiating. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Cullwell officiating. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Sears was born on September 25, 1924 in Terry Co., TX to Kellie and Era(McLeroy) Sears. He married Anna Bailey on August 25, 1950 in Lamesa, TX.
He was in the Navy from 1944-1946. He served on the U.S. S. Lexington. He is honored at the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg.
Mr. Sears was president of the Saddle Tramps while attending Texas Tech, a founding member of the Ranching Heritage Center and also on the board. He served as an officer and State Vice President of the Texas J C's, member of the Rotary Club, Gold Coats and the Chamber of Commerce. He was president of the Scurry County Museum and president of the WTC Booster Club. He also served on the Scurry County Historical Commission and was on the Sparkle City Committee. Mr. Sears was voted Snyder Man Of The Year three times. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He lived for Christ first, others second and put himself third.
