Harold Hampton Yearwood, 87, a longtime resident of Snyder passed away, Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Cogdell Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Colonial Hill Baptist Church in Snyder. Pastors Tommy Caldwell and Tony Wofford will be officiating. After a Masonic grave side service, burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Harold was born July 28, 1927 in Plainview, Tx. to Morris A. & Vertie Lee (Curb) Yearwood. He was raised in Tulia, Tx. where he met and married the former Jean McCraw from Bellevue, Texas in 1945. Harold and Jean enjoyed a wonderful marriage for almost 52 years until Jean’s death in 1997. Harold was later married to Helen Owens in 1998 until her death in 2013. Harold was a Marine Corp veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. After serving his Country he started a distinguished 40 year career with Service Pipeline Company, later Amoco Pipeline Company retiring in 1992. Harold and his family moved to Snyder in 1962 where he remained a faithful member of the Colonial Hill Baptist Church.
Harold was very active in Masonic work belonging to Scurry County Masonic Lodge #706 32deg, Lubbock and El Paso Scottish Bodies 32deg &York Rite Bodies, Chapter and Council Suez Shriners in San Angelo. He served for 2 years as president of the Cogdell Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Texas Baptist Church Builders.
Harold is survived by two sons, Hamp Yearwood and his wife Teresa of Snyder, David Yearwood and his wife Debbie of Katy, three grandchildren, Wade Yearwood of Ft. Worth, Josh Yearwood and wife Sara of Houston, Lacey (Yearwood) Green and husband Caleb Green of Lubbock, two great grandchildren Olivia Grace Yearwood and Lucas Julian Yearwood of Houston, one brother David Leroy Yearwood of San Angelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
