Truman L. Wilson, 94, of Snyder, Texas, went to be with The Lord on May 12, 2015 at his home in Snyder, Texas.
Visitation will be 6pm to 7pm Friday, May 15, 2015, at The Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home in Snyder. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2 pm at The Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with the Reverend Sam Kitching officiating. Burial will follow at the Snyder Cemetery in Snyder, Texas.
Wilson was born on May 15, 1920 in Snyder, Texas, to Oscar Wilson and Dora Walker Wilson. He served with distinction in the U.S Air Force from 1941 until 1967, retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War.
He married LaNell Chapman in 1942 and they raised their family in the military as citizens of the world, being stationed at various bases all over the globe. He retired in 1967 and moved back to his hometown of Snyder, where he remained until his death. His wife LaNell died in 1973 and he married Elizabeth Wilson of Colorado City in 1975.
He was preceded in death by first wife LaNell, son Roy, and brother LaVell.
He was survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Wilson of Snyder, daughter Patti Kachel of Snyder, daughter Janie Birtcil of Oregon, son JD Wilson of Ohio, brother Jim Preston of Powderly, TX, 8 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roy Smith, Scott Wilson, Adam Wilson, Reston Wilson, Mark Porter, and Butch Bond, all grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Mr. Wilson will be interred with full military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard from Dyess AFB.
