Graveside services for Peggy Landreth, 81, of Haskell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Hillside Garden Cemetery in Snyder, Texas, under the care and direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home in Snyder. There will be a memorial dinner in her honor at 6:30 p.m., Friday night at her favorite restaurant, El Fenix Café, located at 3241 S. 1st Street in Abilene . Peggy entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 12, 2015 at her home in Haskell, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Peggy was born on May 31, 1933 in Stonewall County, Texas to Bill and Madge Fitzgerald Childress. She graduated from Aspermont High School in 1950 and attended Hardin Simmons and Texas Tech Universities . Peggy lived in Snyder , Texas as a young woman where she managed a “filling station” and was a dedicated Cub Scout leader. She moved to Abilene in 1971 and began her career with the Texas Department of Human Services as a social worker and retired after serving for over 21 years. After retirement, Peggy was able to focus on her passions, fishing, genealogy, and her family, taking several trips to Tennessee to combine the three. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and 1 daughter: Barbara Smith. She is survived by 4 children; Larry Landreth, and his wife Tanya of Caldwell, Texas, Kathy Landreth of Haskell, Texas, Lisa Steele, and her husband James of Potosi, Texas, Paul Landreth and his wife Lori, of Rising Star, Texas; 2 brothers, John Childress and his wife Ellen of Dallas, Texas, James Robert Childress and his wife Sue of Decatur, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also survived by her constant companion “Yogi”. Peggy was loved and respected by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. Peggy’s final request was that memorials be sent to www.stjudes.org . Peggy’s grandchildren will be honored as pallbearers. KEEP ON LIVING!!!!!
