Glenn Patterson

July 12, 1946 — June 22, 2015

Mr. A. Glenn Patterson of Snyder, TX peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, June 22, 2015 in Lubbock at the age of 68. Service for Mr. Patterson will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 , at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Snyder,TX with Rev. Larry McAden officiating. Internment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Glenn is survived by his wife Janeen Patterson; his son, Robert Patterson and wife Angie of Lubbock, TX; His son Roe Patterson and wife Tonya of Fort Worth, TX; His 5 grandchildren, Chandler, Logan, Nathan, Jenna and Anna Grace Patterson. His siblings, Charlene Light and husband Morris; Anita Talbott and husband Cloyce; and Alton Patterson and wife Sherry, all of Snyder, TX, He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Monroe and Eudell Patterson of Snyder, TX. Glenn was born on July 12, 1946 in Blackwell, Tx to Monroe and Eudell (Blair) Patterson. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1966 and graduated from San Angelo State University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He married Janeen (Clements) on August 6, 1972 in Midway, TX. After graduating from college he taught High School and refereed basketball in San Antonio,Tx. In 1978 he went back to his oil and gas roots and founded Patterson Drilling Company with his brother-in-law Cloyce Talbott, with Glenn serving as President and Chief Operating Officer and Cloyce serving as Chief Executive Officer. Together they grew the company from one drilling rig to one of the largest land drilling companies in the world. The company went public in 1993 and merged with UTI Drilling in 2001. When Glenn retired in May of 2006, Patterson UTI Drilling had become a pillar of the United States Drilling Industry. He was the first recipient of the Snyder Athletic Hall of Honor Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also the recipient of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association's Top Hand Award in 2008. Glenn was a legend in the oil and gas industry known for his fairness, determination, and work ethic by his friends and peers. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Glenn's life.
