Glenna was involved in community services in Morton and Snyder through the local Garden Club organizations. She loved her gardening and flower arranging.
Glenna and her sisters loved to sew. They would often meet at each other’s homes and plan and create outfits for special events like the annual family reunion.
Glenna was highly involved in her church. She taught adult women’s Bible study, children’s classes and was involved in other forms of worship in her church. For a while, she sang soprano
in the church choir.
She was involved in world missions. She would often have home missionaries visit her home.
She would bring foreign students studying at Wayland Baptist College home to spend holidays
with her family. Eventually, she influenced her youngest son, Terry, and his family to go into missions.
Glenna’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. She would often visit local florists to see how they were decorating for Christmas. She’d take those ideas back to her home and to her church.
She would start decorating the church very early in the season. Each year, the church was decorated differently with the unique skills she brought to the decorations.
Each year, she had a nativity scene on the front porch of her house along with the Christmas
lights she would have Charles and their sons string around the rim of the house.
She loved music. When the kids were young, she was collecting music albums that would
become favorites of the radio and TV stations 5 years or longer after she started her collection.
Most of all, she loved children. Anywhere she went, if there was a child, she was there talking to
them and sharing her love with them.
