Vera Allred Mcspadden

Mrs. Vera Allred McSpadden, 90 of Snyder, TX passed away on Wednesday June 15, 2016 in Snyder.

Funeral Services for Mrs. McSpadden will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Highfield officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. McSpadden was born February 15, 1926 to Harvey and Pearl Allred in Jones County. She graduated from Anson High School in 1944. She graduated from McMurry College in Abilene, Texas in 1947. Vera married Wilton Bradley McSpadden (Dr. Mac) on August 23, 1947. They moved to Snyder in 1968 from Morton, Texas. They enjoyed 51 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1998. She later married Pat Falls on January 10, 2005. He preceded her in death on January 23, 2009. Vera taught 7th and 8th graders for ten years in Dallas and in Longworth, Texas. She enjoyed many artistic pursuits such as painting, flower arrangement, and interior design. She was a member of several church and community organizations while in Snyder. She was the first woman elected to the Snyder Independent School Board.

She is survived by three children, Bradley McSpadden and his wife Wery of San Diego, California, Loy McSpadden of Amarillo, Texas and daughter, Joy Carthel and her husband Nelson of Snyder, Texas; two grandsons, Harvey McSpadden of San Diego, California and Dagan Carthel of Snyder, Texas. She is also survived b one sister, Viola Shields of Abilene, Texas and two nephews, Tim Shields and his wife Tammy of Merkel, Texas and Mike Shields and his wife Dana of Houston, Texas; plus several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held today, Friday, June 17, 2016 from 6 PM to 7 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
