Charles Bates Edmiaston

September 29, 1960 — August 28, 2016

Charles Bates Edmiaston, 55, of Snyder, Texas was called home Sunday, August 28, 2016 after suffering a massive heart attack. Known to most as “CB”, some as “Cold Beer”, the lucky few called him, son, brother, husband, and father. All knew him as a “damn good man”.

CB was born in Snyder, Texas to Bobby Bates and Jean Anne Edmiaston on September 29, 1960. He was raised on the family farm with his sister, Teresa Swecker, and younger brother, Gary Don Edmiaston. CB graduated from Angelo State University and worked for Apollo Wireline, as well as Exxon before finding his true calling at the Johnson Ranch, where he “got more work done before you even got out of bed”. CB was rarely seen without his signature get-up; boots, jeans, cowboy hat, and a button-down shirt. Much like his predictable attire, CB was just as ‘handy as a pocket on a shirt’. His friends and family could rely on him for anything. Need “Mr. Fix It”? CB could help, most likely because he had broken it before! He was always only a phone call away to those in trouble, but more often than not, he was in the same pickle. CB’s real gift was teaching us to have thick skin with his relentless teasing and to be unapologetically true to ourselves by accepting all walks of life and loving us unconditionally.

CB will be greeted at the Gates by all of his beloved dogs, most notably Brandy and Gert, and will be reunited with his mother and father in Heaven. He leaves behind family and friends, only to be able to better watch over them as he did his entire life here on earth.

The Edmiaston Family invites all that were touched by CB’s everlasting spirit to the viewing Wednesday, August 31st, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. and a service of remembrance on Thursday, September 1st, at 10:00 a.m. at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Lunch will immediately follow at the home of Clay Johnson, where you need only to bring fond memories and stories of CB to share. A private interment will then follow at the Johnson Ranch.
