Don Lee Sealy

Don Lee Sealy, 93, lifelong Scurry County resident, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 28, 2016.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 AM Wednesday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.

The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale funeral home. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 PM today at the funeral home.

Born on the Sealy homeplace in Borden County on August 9, 1923 to NJ and Redie Rea Sealy. Don was one of five sons.

Don married Gwen Yvonne Tate March 19, 1946 in Snyder. They were blessed with three daughters and further blessed with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. A man who valued truth and honesty above all, he respected humans & animals and was always a steward of the land.

He rodeoed in his youth, survived the Great Depression, and served in the US Army in World War II and the Korean conflict.

Don was a rancher, farmer, roper, golfer, horse trader, domino player, jokester, expert fence builder, and a wonderful dad. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He will be sorely missed and remembered always.

He was a Longtime member of Scurry County Sheriffs Posse and Scurry County Rodeo Association. Don retired from Cogdell Memorial Hospital after many years of service.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, AB, Bob, Dick, and Jim Sealy; and nephews, John and Ramon Sealy.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Gwen; and family Phyllis Detrich; DonnaSue Sealy and Daniel Vogt; Gini and Allen Grimmett; Reese,Tara, and Rantley Grimmett ; Ashley, Luke, Avery and Kinlee Thomas; Robert, Autumn and Aubre Schiller; favorite niece Lori Sealy and nephews Jimmy, Junior, Greg, Morris, Aaron Jim, and Jason Sealy.
