Gwen Tate Sealy

Gwen Tate Sealy, 90, lifelong Scurry County resident, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, January 8 at 2pm at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating.

The service will be under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale funeral home.

Visitation will be Saturday from 6-7pm at the funeral home.

Born in Jayton, Texas on December 6,1926, she was the daughter of J.W. and Maggie Tate. Gwen graduated from Snyder high school, and then attended Hardin Simmons University.

Gwen married Don Lee Sealy on March 19, 1946 in Snyder. They were blessed with three daughters and further blessed with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She will be missed greatly and remembered always, for she was a sweet and loving soul.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family and God above all else. For many years she enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She loved music especially hymns.

She was married to Don, the love of her life, for 70 years. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2016.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Sanders Tate.

Gwen is survived by her loving family, Phyllis Detrich; DonnaSue Sealy and Daniel Vogt; Gini and Allen Grimmett; Reese,Tara, and Rantley Grimmett ; Ashley, Luke, Avery and Kinlee Thomas; Robert, Autumn and Aubre Schiller; nephew Jerry Tate, and a very special niece Lori Sealy.
