Our Heavenly Father called Dorthey home on January 2, 2017, at Medical Center of McKinney, Texas. Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 7th, 2:00 pm at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home, in Snyder, TX with Reverend Joshua Giddens officiating and the burial to follow at Slater Chapel Cemetery, Nolan, TX.
Born: December 28, 1926 to John McGruder and Annie Maude (Arnold) Lucus in Tahoka, Texas.
Married: Samuel Richard “Dick” Hanks in Sweetwater on June 19th, 1943.
Children: Richard Hanks and James Hanks.
Married: G. Dexter Norwood in Snyder on September 5th 1997.
Survived by two sons: Richard Hanks and wife Marta, of Abilene, Texas
James Hanks and wife, Tamara, of Farmersville, Texas
Son in Law, Lloyd Nichols of Snyder and Daughter in Law, Sonja Hanks of Snyder.
Four grand children: Kathy Giron and husband Marco Giron of Abilene, Richard Wayland Hanks and spouse Thais Grimm Hanks of Abilene, Samuel and Nathanael Hanks of Farmersville
Three great-grand children: Noah Giron, Selah Giron, and Kayleigh Hanks, all of Abilene.
Many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death: her parents, John and Maude Lucus; sister, Ruth Finch; brothers John Lucus and Joseph Lucus; Spouses, Samuel Richard Hanks and G. Dexter Norwood; two children, Susan Hanks-Nichols and Bobby Hanks.
She was a life long Baptist and a member of North College Avenue Baptist Church, Snyder. She helped build and was secretary for Hanks Oilfield Service Company until 1976. She enjoyed playing the piano and played for a number of years at her church, Loraine Senior Center, and Colorado City Senior Center.
