Vernon Everett Browning

July 8, 1938 — April 6, 2017

Mr. Vernon Everett Browning entered heaven's gates and was eternally healed from cancer, Thursday, April 06, 2017, at the age of 78 in Lubbock, Texas.

He was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on June 8th, 1938, and the world instantly became brighter. In the late 1950s, he was ordained to preach and led numerous Baptist youth rallies in Scurry, Mitchell, and Garza counties. He invested in his community by coaching the Rebels of the teenage baseball league, and served his church family as a Deacon and Trustee at Calvary Baptist Church of Snyder. He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power of Christ's love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing. He was an avid outdoors man whose spare time was often spent hunting and fishing with family and friends. He had a gift for making people laugh with his quick wit; something he practiced regularly on the numerous doctors and nurses who cared for him. It was the simple things in life that he never took for granted, commenting daily how fortunate and thankful he was.

He is survived by his bride of 59 years, Sandra Browning of Snyder, Texas; son Doyle Browning and wife, Shawn of Seymour, Texas, and daughter Donna Browning of Snyder, Texas. His four granddaughters, Courtney, Whitney, Lindsey and Haley Browning will miss their PaPaw dearly. He also leaves sisters-in-law Linda Browning, Linda Shatney, and Ima Leech; nieces Angela Cunningham, Brenda Lambert and husband, Tom, Nikki Leech, Melissa Foran and Michele Jones; nephew Scott Leech and wife, Denise, and numerous other great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.C. and Dell Browning; brother, Bobby Joe Browning and brother-in-law, Carroll Leech.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6 PM to 7 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
