Leroy Thrower

Leroy Thrower, 85 years, a 62 year resident of Snyder, with family attending, quietly passed away, July 30, 2017.

Mr. Thrower was born to Lee Houston and Martha Ellen (Jones) Thrower, August 18, 1931 in Maud, Seminole County, Oklahoma. He married Jo (Alta Faye) Jones, February 5, 1966 in Big Spring, Texas.

He graduated from Maud High School, Maud Oklahoma in 1949. Mr. Thrower served proudly in the U.S. Army, then in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pickaway, APA-222, LST-902, USS Mount McKinley, AGC-7 at the Invasion of Inchon, Korean War. After his military service, Mr. Thrower attended Oklahoma A&M, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, receiving an electronics degree.

Mr. Thrower came to Snyder in 1955 and went to work for M&M Electronics. After managing it for 18 years, he purchased the business, retiring in 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, infants Lilly Bernice and Ima Jean Thrower. Pearlie Mae Varbel, and Della Faye Stephens, one son, Kevin Arthur Holmesly.

Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Jo Thrower. Sons, Bryan Thrower, Carrolton, Texas, Wally Holmesly, Snyder, Texas. Daughter, Shana R. Reed, Lubbock, Texas. Grandsons, Brody James Thrower, Brendan Michael Thrower, Carrolton, Texas, Corbin Holmesly, Snyder. Grandaughter, Taylor Janae Reed, Lubbock, Texas. Nephew, Gary Varbel, Buellton, California. Nieces, Donna (Varbel) Reece, Nampa, Idaho, Vickie (Varbel) Rae, Meridian, Idaho.

A private family service and interment will be held at Hillside Memorial Gardens, Snyder, Texas
Services provided by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home, Snyder, Texas.
