Mr. Henry Grady Gafford, Jr, 88 years, a life-long resident of Snyder, passed away quietly surrounded by family on August 6, 2017.
Funeral Services for Mr. Gafford will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Rev./Dr. Benjamin Gafford officiating. Internment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Gafford was born to Henry Grady Gafford, Sr and Doris Novelle (Adcock) Gafford on February 17, 1929 on the north side of the square in Snyder, Texas. He married Myrle Wayne (Neal) on January 6, 1956. He graduated from Hermleigh High School in 1946. Upon graduation, he attended McMurray College from 1947 - 1949. Mr. Gafford proudly served in the United States Army from November 17, 1950 until October 8, 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed telling stories of his service days, especially that he pitched for the Army baseball team in Germany. After his service, Mr. Gafford played Triple C baseball in Harlingen, Texas before returning to Scurry County to pursue a career as a dry land farmer. As a farmer he gained many friends, served on the gin board, and enjoyed drinking coffee with local farmers up to his retirement and beyond. Mr. Gafford had a passion for sports. He mentored Snyder youth as a little league coach for 33 years, and also coached Little Dribblers and Pee Wee football.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
