Mary Philomena Kelley

Mrs. Mary Philomena Kelley, 99 of Snyder, TX died on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in Snyder.

Funeral Mass for Mrs. Kelley will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017, at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Arsenio Redulla officiating. Internment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. Kelley was born on Sunday, August 26, 1917 in Superior, WI to Cleophas and Elizabeth (Bennett) Morissett. She graduated from State Teachers College at Superior, WI with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1938. She returned to the University of Wisconsin in Madison and received her Bachelor of Library Science in 1941.

She married Harold Edward Kelley on February 23, 1944 at the Brooklyn Navy Chapel in New York City. After celebrating their union, she became the yard librarian at Hunters Point Navy Dry Dock in San Francisco.

After the war, they moved to Texas with Snyder becoming their home in 1955.

Phil was a childrens' librarian in Snyder for 23 years. After retirement, she joined the Ladies Auxillary at Cogdell Hospital, where she volunteered for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister, Imogene McGrath; grandson, Casey Uptergrove; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie Uptergrove.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
