David Major Word

David Major Word, 65, went to see our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas. David was born April 13, 1952 to C.M. and Neilda (Reese) Word in Snyder, Texas, the oldest of 4 children. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1970.

David received his bachelor in Business from Howard Payne in 1975. He went on to work in the oilfield industry off and on for the next 30 years and was with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 10 years. David retired in 2016 with XTO Energy. David loved to spend time with his family and friends. He loved golf, tinkering with his vehicles, and caring for others.

David is survived by his daughter, Brandy (Word) Lyon and husband Michael Lyon of Midland; son Bryan M. Word and wife Kimberly Word of Midland; 6 grandchildren, Megan, Zachary, Zane, Rachel, Major and Carter; sisters, Amy Hall and belated Troy Hall, Carol Graves and husband Greg Graves and Elizabeth Ballinger and husband John Ballinger; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by both his parents C.M. Word in 2006 and Neilda Word 2016.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Burial will follow for the family at Hillside Memorial Garden.
