Ms. Ava Nell Harper was born on Saturday, September 16, 1933 in Avery, TX to Carl Henry and Opal Mae Russett. She moved to Snyder and married the love of her life John Harper on Saturday, July 12, 1952. She and John moved several places around the US but came back to Snyder to raise their family of five children. Nell was a long time member of First Baptist Church, Snyder. She and John enjoyed many years of traveling with Church Builders and she enjoyed her time with her Sunday School class filled with her dearest and closest friends.
She enjoyed several jobs in her life from Perry Brothers, the answering service, to The Green Stamp Store and Snyder ISD as a cafeteria worker and bus aid. She was a caregiver at heart and took care of many children and elderly alike. While she enjoyed her time working outside the home her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nell loved the Scurry County Senior Center and volunteered for delivering meals for close to ten years. Many of her friends at “The Center” would say she’s a hoot because of her great sense of humor.
She will be great missed by her friends and still growing family and leaves a legacy of love and laughter for decades.
