William Barrie Bowlin , long-time resident of Snyder, passed away from heart failure at home in Austin on August 15, 2022. He was born in Loraine, Texas on December 21, 1948. He was a 1967 graduate of Snyder High School and attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Oklahoma. Later in life, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science with magna cum laude honors from Lamar State College and was on the President’s List for academic achievement. Since 1983, he continuously held eight ASE certifications as an Automotive Technician, as well as numerous other automotive repair certifications.
Barrie was the proud and successful owner of multiple businesses in Snyder; lastly, Bowlin Automotive on Old Lubbock Highway. Many former clients have stated that he was one of the best automotive technicians in Snyder.
He loved camping, fishing, traveling, and gardening. He enjoyed attending his children’s activities and was an accomplished cook. He had a gift for writing poetry and his kindness, sensitivity, and intelligence was reflected in many of those writings. Family members were often the recipients of poems on their birthdays, holidays, or “just because.”
Barrie was preceded in death by grandparents, W.R. and Lois Bowlin; parents, William (Bill) and Iris Bowlin; sister, Pamela Sue Bowlin; uncle, Glen Bowlin; aunt, Fay Hamilton; nephew, Tony Repola; cousins, Jeff Lightfoot and Tim Hamilton; and, former spouse, Judy Bowlin Brown.
He is survived by sisters, Patsy (Paul) Mikelonis and Kay (Larry) Rowe; children, Pam (Jeffery) Hogan, Amber (Paul) Tronco, Barrett (Kaci) Bowlin, Brett (Sarah) Bowlin; stepdaughter, Courtney (Greg) Jones; aunt, Mary Lightfoot; nephews, Jobe Repola and Heath Rowe; nieces, Britani Ulrich and Pamela Repola; former spouse, Deborah Bowlin; cousins, Keith Hamilton, Dale and David Bowlin; and, seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be held October 1, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Bell Cypert Seale Funeral Home with a Memorial Service October 2, 2:00 p.m. A private interment will follow at Snyder Cemetery.
