Bettie Sue Taylor left this life on Sunday, January 19, 2020.

Bettie was born January 24, 1928 in Sipe Springs, TX to Lewis Dunn and Ethel Chambers Dunn. In 1934 the family moved to her grandparents' ranch on the Mitchell, Scurry County line.

Bettie attended Ira School, graduating in 1945. She had plans to enter the Army nurses training in the fall but R. K. Taylor, the young sailor she was pen pals with, came home on survivors' leave and they were married June 13, 1945 in Rockwall, Texas. After raising her family she fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating from Howard College School of Nursing in 1973.

She was preceded in death by her husband R. K. Taylor, an infant daughter Cody Gay Taylor, her parents and a sister, Mary Lew Rhea.

She is survived by a son, Lewis Taylor and wife Betty of Big Spring, a daughter, Suzanna Wilson and husband Jimmie of Ira, three grandchildren, Rebel Royall and wife Cynthia, of Garden City, Kirtis Taylor, of Big Spring and Wendy Scott and husband Kyle, of Westbrook. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Kirstie Rostro and husband Tero, of San Angelo, Chapman Royall of Levelland, Rafe Royall of Lubbock, Peyton Royall of Garden City, Gunner Scott of Westbrook.

At Bettie's request, there will be a graveside service Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Ira Cemetery with Reverend Rocky Alexander officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. A meal will be served for the family at noon at Ira Church of God annex building.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Rebel Royall, Kirtis Taylor, Tero Rostro, Kyle Scott, Gunner Scott, Chapman Royall, Rafe Royall and Peyton Royall

No visitation is planned.
