Betty Juanell Wink

May 4, 1942 — November 13, 2024

Fluvanna, TX - Betty Juanell Pylant Wink, 82, of Fluvanna, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
Betty was born on May 4, 1942, to Dee and Viola Pylant in Snyder, Texas. She graduated from Texas Tech University with her teaching degree in 1964 and married Kenneth Wink on July 31, 1965. After spending 10 years teaching in various towns, including Anton, Ackerly, and Hobbs, Texas, Betty and Kenneth moved to Marathon, Texas, in 1976. There, Betty became a beloved home economics teacher for Marathon ISD, where she dedicated more than 35 years to educating and inspiring generations of students.
Betty and Kenneth were dedicated members of First Baptist Church of Marathon and were deeply committed to the Marathon community. They were especially active in the school Booster Club, where they helped organize and work the renowned 4th of July dance at Post Park.
A talented and enthusiastic seamstress, Betty loved to sew, and her creative work was admired by all who knew her. Betty was well known for her exceptional cooking skills, which she shared generously with family and friends. Her culinary talents were put to good use not only in the kitchen, but also through countless hours working at school concession stands and church fellowships, always showing her love and care for those around her.
After retiring from teaching in 2007, Betty faced a brave battle with breast cancer and was thankful to be among the many who survived this challenging fight.
In 2008, Betty and Kenneth returned to their ranch in Fluvanna, where they enjoyed their days playing with their local bridge club, hosting family game nights, and, most importantly, spending time with their children and grandchildren. Betty was incredibly proud of her family, often speaking of her grandchildren and taking joy in attending their sporting events. Family game nights were a favorite tradition, filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. Betty's family was the center of her world, and her love for them was boundless.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jackie and Bill, and her beloved husband Kenneth. She is survived by her three children: Rachelle Proctor of Marion, Texas, Kevin Wink and wife Kelli of Stanton, Texas, and Kerry Wink and wife Kristi of Post, Texas; brother Rex Pylant of Fluvanna; sister-in-law Ozane Beaver of Snyder; seven grandchildren: Braden and Jordan Proctor, Kolton, Kasen, and Keithland Wink, Josh and Jami Hastings; two great-grandchildren: Maddux and Micah Hastings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
