Mr. Billy James Clayton, 89, of Snyder, TX passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at his home. He went to sleep in his recliner and woke up in the hands of the Lord.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on March 9, 2024 at 1 PM at the Zion Hill Community Center in Weatherford, TX. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Clayton was born on July 9, 1934, in Jacksboro, Texas to James H. and Melverdia (Thetford) Clayton. After serving in the US Army, he began his career in 1967 as a sales representative with Harbison-Fischer. He was a member of the Snyder ISD school board from 1974-1980. He was on the Board of Directors for the Snyder Boys and Girls Club and a Snyder Gold Coater from 1972-1980. He also served as President of the United Girls Softball Association from 1980-1984. He was a coach for many years for Snyder Little League Baseball and the Snyder Boys Club. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bobby Clayton and a grandson, Jason Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Smith Clayton and two sisters, Mildred Isbell of Gordon, TX and Genevive McDonald of Mineral Wells, TX.
He is also survived by five children, three daughters, Teena Clayton of Leesburg, VA, Cindy Smedstad of Katy, TX, and Sherri Noyola, of Monahans, TX. He had two sons, Billy Clayton Jr. of Snyder, TX and Joey Noyola of Monahans, TX.
He had eight grandchildren; four granddaughters, Danielle Smedstad of San Antonio, TX, Josephine Boyle of Leesburg, VA, Taegan Noyola of Monahans, TX and Braelyn Noyola, of Monahans, TX; four grandsons, Sean Clayton of Keller, TX, Kye Noyola of Monahans, TX, Clayton Boyle of Leesburg, VA, Cayton Noyola of Monahans, TX, and; and one great grandson born on January 11, 2023, Braxton Lane Franco.
