Carla Jean Clark, 97 years young, passed away on March 12, 2025 in Richardson TX after a brief illness with her daughter Denise by her side. She was born November 9, 1927 in Snyder, TX to Nolan and Opal (Maxwell) von Roeder. Carla was a graduate of Ira High School and Texas Technical College. After meeting at a picnic, Carla married Aubrey Lindal "Lindy" Clark on June 25, 1949; they were lifelong sweethearts and were married for 66 years before Lindy's death.
Carla accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior when she was just 5 years old and walked hand in hand with Him every day of her life. She led many people to faith in Christ through her testimony and the light of Christ which lived within her, a light that even drew strangers to inquire about the beautiful life she exuded, and many of those came to know Christ.
Carla loved to let people know she had the best family in the world. As a young child, God revealed to her that after marrying, she would have two boys and two girls. Lindy and Carla went on to have those four children: Stanley, Terry, Denise, and Teresa.
Carla lived life to the fullest: she played tennis in college, traveled all over the world, loved to spend time gardening or tending to her indoor plants, spent many years researching and writing about her family history, had the best sense of humor and never took life too seriously, and never passed up the chance to take a photo or enjoy a slice of chocolate pie. Her greatest joy was her family and loved ones. In her own words, "I treasure family more than anything I know" - she loved her family fully and unconditionally, and every moment she got to spend with them was the highlight of her life. She had a beautiful ability to meet people where they were and brighten their lives with her own, her ever-present smile and infectious joy touching lives in a deep and meaningful way wherever she went.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents Nolan von Roeder and Opal von Roeder Williams, husband Lindy Clark, children Stanley Clark, Terry Clark, and Teresa Clark Pugh, and brother Max von Roeder. She is survived by her daughter Denise Clark Stufflebeam and John, daughter-in-law Marie Clark, as well as those she was "Mamaw" to - her beloved grandchildren: Carl Clark and Melissa, Stormy Shields and James Allen, Justin Pugh, Andrea Maxwell and Sam, Matthew Stufflebeam and Lexi, and her great-grandchildren: Reese Camp, Caitlyn Clark, Carson Clark, Asher Shields, Violet Stufflebeam, and Aubrey Maxwell, along with her sister-in-love Anne von Roeder, and many special nieces and nephews.
