Mrs. Carol Marie Watkins, age 74, found peace on April 19, 2021 at home from a long-time battle with Dementia in Fort Worth, Texas with her family by her side.
Carol will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Graveside services will be held at 10am on Friday, April 23, 2021, with Pastor Tony Wofford officiating and under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home of Snyder.
Carol was born in Plainview, Texas on September 14, 1946 with one single tooth. She was the only child to Kenneth James and Gladys Marie (Wright) Pemberton.
Carol met her soulmate, Arthur Watkins, while working at Rip Griffin Travel Center in Snyder, Texas. After he watched her clean windows and they had a brief conversation, he later went home to tell one of his sisters, “I’m going to marry that girl one day” and on Valentine’s Day 1967 in Big Springs, Texas, she married the love of her life. They shared almost 48 years of marriage before his death on December 23, 2014.
They made their home in Colorado City, Texas where she was a devoted and loving Wife, Mom, and Nana. Carol enjoyed crafting, drawing, cooking, and sewing before she found her true passion for nursing. She excelled in the nursing industry for 35 years before retiring in 2013. Carol spent 24 of those years inspiring students by teaching LVN’s with her partner in crime, Diane Beard, at Western Texas College (WTC) in Snyder. She stressed the importance of bedside manner and compassion which impacted all her students.
Like a stone in the pond of life, her teachings have a ripple effect. She will live with us through the students she taught and by the memories she gave us.
She is preceded in death by:
Her Husband, Arthur Watkins (2014)
Her Dad, Kenneth Pemberton (2002)
Her Mom, Gladys (Wright) Boyd (1976)
She is survived by:
Her only daughter and best friend Cindy Musser and husband Jason of Fort Worth, Texas
Her only grandson Caleb Musser of Fort Worth, Texas
How we live now, going forward, is a part of her legacy. Live it to the fullest for her.
