Carolyn Bagley Warren passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, with her family by her side. She was born February 21, 1945, in Vernon, Texas. She was raised in Odessa, Texas. Carolyn graduated Permian High School in 1963. She was a proud member of the Permian High School Band. Carolyn was honored as Band Sweetheart her senior year. After graduation, she attended Texas Tech University majoring in Education. Wade and Carolyn were friends in high school, and they began dating while they both attended Texas Tech. They married August 27, 1966, in Odessa while they finished school. They then moved to Lamesa, where Wade worked at the newspaper and Carolyn worked for Klondike ISD. She had fond memories of her teaching at Klondike.
Carolyn and Wade raised four children: Leslie Ann, Shannon, Jason and Tyler. They attended many twirling events, piano recitals, pep rallies, tennis matches, basketball games, football games, baseball games and then moved on to the grandchildren’s events, which they attended as many as they could.
Carolyn worked for Snyder Daily News for many years. After retirement, Wade and Carolyn loved to travel. Their favorite being where there was a slot machine. On one trip to Las Vegas, she sat next to then Texas Tech coach, Kliff Kingsberry. She became a big fan of his when he sent her a note about how he enjoyed meeting her. She liked to attend concerts. She saw Elvis twice in Lubbock. Enjoyed the Oak Ridge Boys, Willie Nelson and finally after many “no shows” saw George Jones. Even saw Garth Brooks.
On one trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia, we were walking by a record store close to the docks and country music was playing. Talking to the store owners, it came out we were from Texas, and they asked if we had ever seen certain singers in concert and which was our favorite. She replied, “Elvis”. The guy immediately called other folks over and said “hey, this lady has seen Elvis in person – The King.”
Little did he know he was talking to a Queen.
Wade and Carolyn loved to travel, especially to a good casino or a cruise. But she really liked to cruise because they had soft serve ice cream, as much as she wanted and a slot machine. They traveled to many places with her sister Beverly and her husband, Jim. Some of the places included New York, Pennsylvania, East Canada, Caribbean Islands, just to name a few.
Carolyn loved her family and was so proud of each of them. When one of her kids were at her house, they would all find a way to be there together.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Frank and Blanche Bagley.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Wade; daughters, Leslie Ann Hargrove and husband Rafe; Shannon Easterwood and husband Tyler; sons Jason and wife Shelley; Tyler and wife Stacy; one sister Beverly McClatchy.
Grandchildren Kaitlyn Ward and husband Chris; Dylan Hargrove and wife Julie; Courtney and Emily Warren; Madison and Peyton Warren; and great-grandchildren Emma and Ellie Ward.
Carolyn proudly served as a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Cogdell Memorial Hospital.
