Densell Reford Fambro, 79, of Snyder Texas, passed from this life on Tuesday morning, August 13, 2024. He was born February 20, 1945 in Harlingen, Texas to Garland Kelly and Lula Aljerene Fambro. He married Mary Jean (Jeanie) Fambro on June 10, 1966 and they were married for 58 years. The couple had three children: Robyn Wilson (Denny) of Odessa; Stephanie Harrison (Wayland) of Pflugerville; and Matthew Fambro of Snyder.
Densell is probably most known for his willingness to serve others and his community. He was employed by Snyder Heating and Air Conditioning for 31 years and the Price Daniel Unit of TDCJ for just shy of 20 years in the HVAC/Maintenance Department. Not only did he take care of the air conditioning and heating needs of Scurry County and beyond during working hours, he was also known as “the one to call” after hours and on weekends – and he always did so willingly.
Densell served as a Deacon with the East Side church of Christ for several years and was currently a member of the 37th Street church of Christ there in Snyder.
Densell’s personality was a big as his stature. He rarely, if ever, left a room with a stranger remaining in it as his love for people and talking to others shined through in all that he did. Whether it was sitting and talking for hours with elderly shut-ins or just making conversation with a “fella” that looked like he needed someone to chat with for a bit, his wit and sense of humor was sure to leave a smile on your face. It was not uncommon to see this “giant” of a man cradling a baby or small child in his arms, or getting down on the floor to play with his kids and grandkids. Densell’s love for children extended well beyond his own family as Densell and Jeanie opened their home to help give babies born to young mothers a second chance as they were foster parents of more than 30 newborns over a span of almost 20 years.
Densell loved and supported his kids in all they decided to do. As a result, many Snyder youth grew up knowing Mr. Fambro as he could fequently be found working with the Scurry County Boys and Girls Little Dribblers Organization for many seasons as well as volunteering to work the concession stands for both Snyder Little League and Snyder Girls’ Softball League. He loved following his kids and their many activities and more than one sports team (yes, the whole team) had the pleasure of riding in Mr. Fambro’s vehicle for hours to get to summer track meets, basketball tournaments, and all-star baseball/softball tournaments.
Densell and Jeanie have 11 grandchildren. Out of all the options available to them, each and every grandchild felt the best place to sit in their Nana and Pop’s house was on Pop’s lap. Pop would gladly oblige and the grandchild in the lap was treated to Pop’s favorite snacks, Pepsi and chips, while most likely a western played on the television.
Densell was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Royce Fambro, a grandson Tyrell Harrison and a great-granddaughter Maren Wilson.
He is survived by his wife Jeanie; his sister Rita Bronniman (Harvey) of Adrian, TX; his 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, August 20th from 5-7pm at the 37th Street church of Christ auditorium. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the Harrison Foundation
20617 Rolling Creek Rd, Pflugerville, TX 78660
The Harrison Foundation was created by Densell’s daughter and son-in-law after the passing of Densell’s 17 year-old grandson. The Harrison Foundation supports families that may need additional resources while receiving treatment for childhood cancer. In addition, the Harrison Foundation created the Team Tyrell Scholarship Award that is awarded to graduating high school students who want to exemplify a fiery spirit for life in everything they want to achieve in academics, STEM, sports, fine art activities, & community service.
