Mrs Elam was born on August 17, 1946 in Snyder, TX to Thomas and Gladys (Leatherwood) Bennett .She married Merle "Butch" Elam on Tuesday, June 12, 1963 in Snyder, Texas. They celebrated 59 years of marriage. She was a member of the Ira Church of God. She was a janitor for 39 years at Ira ISD. She loved all her school kids.

She was preceded in death by her

Parents, Thomas and Gladys Bennett.

Sister, Tommie Rightmire and

Brother, Frank Bennett.
