Dwaine J. Merritt
1939-2024
Mr. Dwaine J. Merritt, 84, of Big Spring and formerly of Snyder, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Big Spring Hospital in Big Spring, Texas.
According to the wishes of Mr. Merritt’s family, no services are planned for Mr. Merritt at this time as his wish was to be donated to science though the program at UMC and through Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.
Mr. Merritt was born on September 17, 1939, to Reverend Cone J. and Florene N. (Bullard) Merritt. He graduated from Snyder High School. After high school, he went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He attended Wayland University and Hardin Simmons University and then went on to work as an Oilfield operator for Chevron and as a dispatcher for Basic Energy. He found love and married Belinda Eastman on August 19, 1984, in Columbus, Texas, and they shared 39 years of marriage. When asked about his greatest life lessons and accomplishments, he would proudly mention his relationship with Jesus Christ and his knowledge of his Bible as well as his beautiful wife and children. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father.
